Alessandro Malterer

Dayton Futbol Academy is excited to introduce Alessandro Cantini Malterer as a key member of our coaching staff, serving as a specialized Goalie Trainer. Alessandro brings a wealth of current, high-level playing experience and a deep passion for the art of goalkeeping to our academy.

Currently a standout NCAA Division I goalkeeper for Wright State University, where he is completing his Business degree (Fall 2025 graduate), Alessandro has already built an impressive and diverse playing resume. His recent experience includes training and playing with FC Cincinnati 2 (MLS NEXTPRO) and competing in USL League 2 with Brooke House FC and the Dayton Dutch Lions. Demonstrating his ambition and adaptability, Alessandro's journey has also taken him internationally, where he played semi-professionally in Italy with A.C. Sporting Cecina (Eccellenza), adding a unique global perspective to his understanding of the game.

Throughout his career, from his decorated high school tenure at Madison East High School (Wisconsin) – where he was a two-time captain, earned 2nd team all-conference honors, and was named Rob Andringa Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year – to his collegiate and semi-professional engagements, Alessandro has consistently showcased the essential qualities of an elite goalkeeper. These include exceptional shot-stopping abilities, intelligent and symmetrical distribution, confident handling of crosses, remarkable agility, and strong leadership and communication skills on and off the field. His objective to play at the highest level possible is fueled by his commitment, strong work ethic, and perseverance.

Having been mentored by a series of esteemed goalkeeper coaches at university, club, and semi-pro levels in both the United States and Italy, Alessandro has absorbed a rich variety of coaching philosophies, advanced techniques, and tactical insights. He is now enthusiastic about sharing this comprehensive knowledge and his genuine passion for the goalkeeping position with the aspiring young talents at Dayton Futbol Academy. Fluent in English and Italian, and proficient in French, Alessandro possesses excellent communication skills to effectively connect with and develop our goalkeepers.
